The Business Development Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the fundraising and business development efforts that help Forth secure the financial support it needs to carry out its mission and grow its impact. As part of the fundraising team, the Business Development Associate helps with data entry into Salesforce, coordinates activities between Business Development Managers and internal and external stakeholders, ensures that documents are properly stored, assists with tracking the progress of fundraising and business development projects, and assumes responsibility for special projects under the direction of the Senior Business Development Manager.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES


Department Coordination (75%)


  • Coordinate activities between the Development & Communications Director, Senior Business Development Manager, the Business Development Manager, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that final documents are properly stored into Forth’s Development file system.
  • Assist with tracking the progress of fundraising and business development projects.
  • Ensure that data, final contracts, acknowledgment letters, and other documents are properly circulated, signed, delivered, filed, and entered into Salesforce in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with identifying process improvements within the Business Development team to ensure efficiency, streamline efforts, and improve proactive coordination with other Forth teams using project management software, Salesforce, Google Drive, and Dropbox.


Market Discovery (25%)

  • Keep informed of industry trends, and advise other team members of potential fundraising prospects when appropriate.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Business Development Manager, periodically assume responsibility for special projects, particularly ones that align with the Business Development Associate’s career interests and the team’s needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

  • A passion for Forth’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion, understanding of key concepts, and desire to grow your knowledge in this area.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional office environment.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently manage and prioritize many competing day-to-day assignments and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Competency with using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or equivalent Google applications, as well as with using Gmail, Google Calendar, and Zoom, or similar applications.
  • Experience with CRM applications such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge.

 

Helpful:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization with a mission-driven staff and board.
  • Interest in local government, electric utilities, the electric vehicle field, transportation, or related fields.

 

COMPENSATION

Starting salary range is $44,000-$51,500, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits include four weeks paid vacation annually, fully paid health, dental, and vision insurance for the employee and all dependents, and an employer retirement contribution after six months (no match required). We also provide access to electric vehicles for business use, a professional development budget, an Employee Assistance Program, and a flexible working schedule.
